MPH Portfolio Introduction
Most of my career, as you will see, has been devoted to adolescent health, reproductive health, and comprehensive sexuality education. I began my career as an intern with Planned Parenthood-Chicago Area during my undergraduate experience at Northwestern University. I graduated from NU in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in Speech (double major in Communication Studies and Anthropology). I soon realized that, while my communication skills were valuable, my true passion was in using those skills to promote open discussion about sexual health.
I have served as a Community Health Educator and Clinic Counselor/Medical Assistant for Planned Parenthood, an Office Manager for the Youth Leadership Institute, and a Reproductive Health Research and Programs Coordinator for the UCSF Center for Reproductive Health Research & Policy. I have also been a Program Associate with Health & Education Communication Consultants - a public health consulting firm. Currently, I am a Community Educator with the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Coalition of San Mateo County.
